Welcome to Glance Back Trains

To me, trains symbolize power, travel and adventure. I know they were designed to be utilitarian in purpose, but, the idea of hopping on a train
to go someplace you've never been is still exciting. Most early railroaders welcomed the advent of the automobile. They saw it as great method of
short range travel which could bring more people to the train stations for extended journeys. They didn't envision the automobile replacing the
train as a means of long distance travel. In some countries it hasn't, but, here in the U.S. passenger trains seem to be few and far between.
We do, however, still have some commuter trains which perform a great service to many. Here is a video on
the importance of Trains in America from 1955.
