Benz
1885 Benz
Karl Benz was a man of vision and in 1885 he designed and built a vehicle powered by an internal combustion engine fueled by gasoline. Numerous versions of his Three-Wheeled car were built over several years. While his tiller steering has gone by the wayside, some of the features of his vehicle are still found on automobiles today. They include: electric ignition, water-cooled engine, mechanical intake valves and differential rear end.
