Ford Aircraft
1926 "Flying Flivver"
Henry Ford, being the visionary that he was, sought to put air power within
the grasp of the average working man. In the 1920's he was developing the Ford
Flivver - a small single engine aircraft with a target price tag of $498. Four
prototypes were built. A tragic crash off the coast of Florida on Feb. 25, 1928
which took the life of Harry Brooks the chief test pilot caused Henry to abandon
the idea.
